Allergies: 25 mg at bedtime or 6.25–12.5 mg before meals and bedtime
Motion sickness: 25 mg 30–60 minutes before travel; can repeat every 8–12 hours
Nausea/Vomiting: 12.5–25 mg every 4–6 hours as needed

| Country of Origin | Made in India |
Drug name: Fexofenadine Hydrochloride
Strength: 180 mg per tablet
Drug class: Second-generation antihistamine (H1 receptor antagonist)
Type: Non-sedating antihistamine
Fexofenadine selectively blocks histamine H1 receptors in the body.
Histamine is a chemical mediator responsible for allergy symptoms like sneezing, itching, watery eyes, nasal congestion, and hives.
By blocking H1 receptors, fexofenadine reduces allergic symptoms without crossing the blood–brain barrier significantly, so it causes very little or no drowsiness, unlike older antihistamines (diphenhydramine, hydroxyzine).
Fexofenadine 180 mg is mainly prescribed for:
Seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever): sneezing, runny nose, itchy or watery eyes, itchy throat.
Chronic idiopathic urticaria (hives): relieves itching and reduces rash/wheals.
Other allergic conditions: sometimes used off-label for skin allergies or reactions.
Adults & children ≥12 years: 180 mg once daily (standard dose).
Taken with water, preferably before meals (as high-fat meals may reduce absorption).
Not recommended for children under 12 years in this strength.
Onset of action: Within 1 hour.
Peak effect: 2–3 hours after dosing.
Duration: About 24 hours → once-daily dosing is sufficient.
Metabolism: Minimal in the liver (safe for mild liver impairment).
Excretion: Mainly unchanged via feces and urine.
Generally well tolerated. Possible effects include:
Headache
Dizziness
Nausea
Dyspepsia (indigestion)
Fatigue (rare)
Menstrual pain (in some cases)
⚠️ Unlike older antihistamines, it rarely causes drowsiness.
PrecautionsKidney problems: Dose adjustment may be needed, as it is excreted renally.
Pregnancy: Generally considered safe, but should be used only if prescribed.
Alcohol/other CNS depressants: Minimal interaction, but best to avoid unnecessary combinations.
Fruit juices (grapefruit, orange, apple): May reduce absorption, so tablets should be taken with water.
Antacids with aluminum or magnesium hydroxide → may reduce absorption. Take fexofenadine 2 hours apart.
Ketoconazole and erythromycin → may increase blood levels of fexofenadine (though usually not harmful).
