Brand Name: Candid Total Plus Cream
Formulation: Topical cream (for external use only)
Manufacturer: Glenmark Pharmaceuticals (commonly available in India and other countries)
Category: Antifungal + Antibacterial + Anti-inflammatory + Antipruritic
This cream is a fixed-dose combination of:
Clotrimazole (1%) – broad-spectrum antifungal.
Ofloxacin (0.75%) – antibacterial (fluoroquinolone).
Ornidazole (2%) – antibacterial & antiprotozoal (nitroimidazole class).
Terbinafine (1%) – strong antifungal (allylamine class).
Clobetasol propionate (0.05%) – a potent corticosteroid (anti-inflammatory, reduces itching, redness, swelling).
Clotrimazole & Terbinafine: Kill fungi by damaging their cell membranes (effective against dermatophytes, yeasts, and molds).
Ofloxacin: Inhibits bacterial DNA replication (effective against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria).
Ornidazole: Destroys anaerobic bacteria and protozoa by damaging DNA.
Clobetasol: Suppresses local inflammation, redness, swelling, and itching by blocking inflammatory mediators.
Together, these provide broad protection against fungal, bacterial, and mixed skin infections while also reducing itching and inflammation.
Indications (Uses)Candid Total Plus Cream is prescribed for mixed skin infections where fungi + bacteria + inflammation are involved, such as:
Fungal infections (ringworm, athlete’s foot, jock itch, candidiasis).
Secondary bacterial infections with fungal skin conditions.
Infected eczema or dermatitis.
Tinea infections with severe itching and redness.
Mixed infections in groin, underarms, between fingers/toes, or skin folds.
Apply a thin layer of cream to the affected area 2 times daily (or as directed by a doctor).
Wash and dry the area before application.
Avoid covering with airtight dressings unless prescribed.
Duration: Usually 1–2 weeks, but may vary depending on severity.
Common (local & mild):
Burning, stinging, or itching at application site
Redness or dryness of skin
Mild peeling or irritation
Serious (rare, usually due to long-term use of Clobetasol):
Thinning of skin (atrophy)
Stretch marks
Skin discoloration
Secondary fungal or bacterial overgrowth (if used too long)
Systemic steroid effects (very rare, if applied on large areas for prolonged periods)
For external use only – do not apply in eyes, mouth, or inside genitals.
Avoid long-term use (especially due to clobetasol – a strong steroid).
Use cautiously on sensitive areas (face, groin, underarms).
Not recommended in children without doctor’s advice.
Pregnancy & breastfeeding: Use only under medical supervision.
Do not use on viral skin infections (herpes, chickenpox, shingles) unless advised.
