Conjugated Estrogens (0.625 mg) Cream
Category: Hormone replacement therapy (HRT)
Form: Vaginal cream
Active ingredient: Conjugated estrogens (mixture of estrogen hormones)
Menopausal Symptoms (Local/Vaginal)
Treats atrophic vaginitis (thinning, drying, and inflammation of vaginal walls due to estrogen deficiency).
Relieves vaginal dryness, burning, itching, and pain during intercourse (dyspareunia).
Improves vaginal elasticity and lubrication.
Urinary Symptoms (Postmenopausal Urogenital Syndrome)
Helps reduce urinary urgency, frequency, recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs), and mild stress incontinence related to estrogen loss.
Other Indications (as prescribed)
Sometimes used in female hypogonadism or ovarian failure, when estrogen replacement is required.
May be prescribed after surgical removal of ovaries (oophorectomy) to relieve local vaginal symptoms.
Provides local estrogen supplementation directly to vaginal tissues.
Restores epithelial thickness, elasticity, and blood flow in vaginal and urinary tissues.
Minimizes systemic absorption compared to oral estrogen, so mainly acts locally.
Usually applied once daily at bedtime for 1–2 weeks, then reduced to a maintenance dose (e.g., 2–3 times per week) as advised by doctor.
Dose and frequency depend on severity of symptoms.
Local:
Vaginal irritation, itching, or discharge
Spotting or breakthrough bleeding (rare)
Systemic (less common, but possible if absorbed):
Breast tenderness or enlargement
Headache, nausea
Fluid retention, leg cramps
Long-term risks (if used in higher/systemic doses):
Increased risk of endometrial hyperplasia (if uterus present, often combined with progesterone to reduce risk)
Small increased risk of breast cancer, stroke, or blood clots with systemic absorption
Not for use in women with history of breast cancer, estrogen-dependent tumors, blood clots, liver disease, or unexplained vaginal bleeding.
Should be used at lowest effective dose for shortest duration.
Regular medical checkups (pelvic exam, breast exam, Pap smear) are recommended.

| Brand | SUSTEN GEL 8% |
| Composition | Progesterone (Natural Micronized) (8% w/w) |
Brand Name: Susten Gel 8%
Active Ingredient: Progesterone 8% w/w (natural micronized progesterone)
Formulation: Vaginal gel (8% means 80 mg progesterone per gram of gel)
Category: Hormone replacement / Progestogen therapy
Manufacturer: Commonly marketed by Sun Pharma (India) and others.
Progesterone is a natural female hormone.
After ovulation, progesterone prepares the endometrium (uterine lining) for implantation of a fertilized egg.
It supports early pregnancy by maintaining the uterine lining and reducing uterine contractions.
In assisted reproductive techniques (ART – IVF, IUI, embryo transfer), external progesterone helps when the body does not produce enough.
Vaginal delivery of progesterone gives direct effect on uterus with fewer systemic side effects compared to oral tablets.
Susten Gel 8% is prescribed for:
Infertility treatment & IVF support – to prepare endometrium for embryo implantation.
Luteal phase support in women with insufficient natural progesterone.
Threatened miscarriage (when progesterone deficiency suspected).
Habitual/recurrent miscarriage due to luteal phase defects.
Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in postmenopausal women (along with estrogen, to protect uterus).
Applied vaginally, usually with an applicator.
Standard dose: One applicatorful (approx. 1 g = 90 mg progesterone) once or twice daily (as prescribed).
Timing depends on fertility treatment protocol or doctor’s instructions.
Best applied while lying down, usually at night.

Vaginal irritation, itching, discharge
Burning sensation or discomfort
Systemic (less common, mild):
Breast tenderness
Headache, mood swings, drowsiness
