Zopiclone 7.5 mg Tablet
Category:
Hypnotic / Sedative
Belongs to the cyclopyrrolone group (not chemically a benzodiazepine, but works on the same receptors)
Mechanism of Action:
Zopiclone binds to the GABA-A receptor complex at the benzodiazepine site.
Enhances the effect of GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid), the main inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain.
This results in sedation, muscle relaxation, anxiolysis, and induction of sleep.
Short-term treatment of insomnia (difficulty falling asleep, frequent awakenings, early morning waking).
Helps with sleep onset and also improves sleep maintenance.
Sometimes used off-label for anxiety-related insomnia or short-term management of sleep disturbance in psychiatric/neurological conditions.
Usual dose: 7.5 mg at bedtime (one tablet)
Elderly, debilitated, or patients with liver/kidney impairment: 3.75 mg recommended (half the dose).
Should be taken just before bedtime and only if the patient can get a full 7–8 hours of sleep afterward.
⚠️ Important: Zopiclone is recommended for short-term use only (usually 2–4 weeks) due to risk of dependence, tolerance, and withdrawal.
Side EffectsCommon:
Metallic or bitter taste in mouth (very typical)
Daytime drowsiness or hangover feeling
Dry mouth
Headache, dizziness
Less Common / Serious:
Confusion, memory impairment (anterograde amnesia)
Hallucinations, nightmares
Dependence and withdrawal symptoms if used long-term
Rare: allergic reactions, respiratory depression (especially with alcohol or opioids)
Avoid alcohol – increases sedation and risk of respiratory depression.
Caution in patients with liver disease, kidney impairment, sleep apnea, respiratory depression, or history of drug/alcohol abuse.
Not recommended in pregnancy and breastfeeding unless absolutely necessary.
Should not be combined with other CNS depressants (benzodiazepines, opioids, antihistamines, etc.).

Trazodone is a generic drug that doctors may prescribe to treat depression. Side effects are usually mild, but possible serious side effects include rapid heart rate, vision problems, and increased suicidal thoughts.
This drug has a black box warning. This is the most serious warning from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). A black box warning alerts doctors and patients about drug effects that may be dangerous.
Drugs used to treat depression, including trazodone, may cause an increase in suicidal thoughts or actions. This risk is higher in children, teenagers, or young adults. It’s also higher within the first few months of treatment with this drug or during dosage changes. You and your family members, caregivers, and doctor should watch for any new or sudden changes in your mood, behaviors, thoughts, or feelings. Trazodone is not approved for use in pediatric patients. Call your doctor right away if you notice any changes.

Eszopiclone is a non-benzodiazepine hypnotic drug, belonging to the “Z-drugs” class (like zolpidem and zaleplon).
It is used mainly for the treatment of insomnia (trouble falling asleep or staying asleep).
Brand name: Lunesta (in many countries).
Each tablet contains:
Eszopiclone – 3 mg (active ingredient)
Inactive ingredients: lactose, starch, magnesium stearate, etc. (may vary by brand).
Eszopiclone works by binding to the GABA-A receptor complex in the brain, specifically at the benzodiazepine binding site.
Enhances the effect of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) – a natural inhibitory neurotransmitter.
This produces:
Sedation
Shortened sleep latency (faster sleep onset)
Increased total sleep time
Unlike benzodiazepines, it has lower risk of dependence and less daytime drowsiness, but risks still exist.
🔹 Medical UsesPrimary use: Short-term and sometimes long-term management of insomnia.
Helps patients fall asleep faster
Reduces nighttime awakenings
Improves sleep quality
Adults: 1 mg at bedtime initially; may be increased to 2–3 mg if needed.
Elderly / liver-impaired patients: Lower dose (1–2 mg) recommended.
Max recommended dose: 3 mg once daily before bedtime.
Should be taken just before sleep (within 7–8 hours of planned rest).
Common side effects:
Drowsiness next day (hangover effect)
Dry mouth
Unpleasant or metallic taste
Dizziness, headache
Serious side effects (rare but possible):
Complex sleep behaviors (e.g., sleepwalking, eating, driving while not fully awake)
Allergic reactions (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing)
Memory impairment or confusion
Dependence and withdrawal symptoms if used long-term or misused
Avoid alcohol or other sedatives (additive CNS depression).
Not recommended for patients with history of drug/alcohol abuse.
Use cautiously in depression or psychiatric illness.
Should not be taken with a heavy/high-fat meal → delays absorption.

| Brand | FLUXICAN 20 MG CAP |
| Manufacturer | Healing Pharma |
| Composition | FLUOXETINE 20 MG CAP |
Generic Name: Fluoxetine Hydrochloride
Strength: 20 mg (capsule or tablet)
Drug Class: Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI)
Primary Use: Antidepressant & anti-anxiety medication
Fluoxetine selectively inhibits reuptake of serotonin (5-HT) in the brain.
This increases serotonin levels in the synaptic cleft → enhances neurotransmission.
Leads to improvement in mood, anxiety, sleep, and emotional balance.
Has little effect on norepinephrine or dopamine reuptake → hence "selective".
Major Depressive Disorder (MDD)
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Panic Disorder (with or without agoraphobia)
Bulimia Nervosa (reduces binge-purge behavior)

Sometimes used off-label for:
Anxiety disorders
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
